About IBS.ie

About IBS.ie

IBS.ie is Ireland's dedicated information resource for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. We publish clear, evidence-based articles on IBS symptoms, diagnosis, diet, gut health and management — referenced to the Health Service Executive (HSE), the NHS and peer-reviewed research on PubMed.

The domain ibs.ie has been active since December 1998 and is held long term as a public health information resource for Irish people living with IBS.

Our Editorial Standards

Every article published on IBS.ie follows a strict editorial framework:

  • All health claims are referenced to PubMed, the HSE, NHS or peer-reviewed published sources
  • We do not provide medical advice, diagnoses or treatment recommendations
  • We always refer readers to their GP for personal health concerns
  • Irish context is prioritised — HSE references, Irish statistics, Irish healthcare pathways
  • We present the evidence as it exists — including when it is limited, mixed or preliminary

Affiliate Disclosure

IBS.ie participates in the Amazon Associates affiliate programme. Some articles include links to products (such as yogurt makers, probiotic supplements and FODMAP cookbooks) from which we may earn a small commission if you make a purchase. This never influences our editorial content — product recommendations are only included when they are relevant to the article's evidence-based content and are clearly labelled.

Practitioner Listings

IBS.ie is developing a curated directory of Irish gastroenterologists and registered dietitians with IBS expertise. If you are a practitioner interested in being featured, please get in touch. Our initial listings are offered at no cost as part of building a credible, useful resource for Irish IBS patients.
